Solar Radiation Analysis
The solar radiation simulation utilized the grasshopper radiation analysis tool in Rhino 7 with Ohakea EnergyPlus Weather files. The 3D model of the home, surrounding buildings, road, and trees was created in ArchiCad and subsequently imported into Rhino. The script showcases the results of the grasshopper script with ladybug parameters for weather station location, timeframe, and geometry selection.
Radiation Analysis for Existing Dwelling
Simulations were conducted on the North-East and South-West faces, from sunrise to sunset on the longest and shortest days. Analysis during the summer solstice show that the roof received the highest amount of radiation, with levels greater than 6.42kWh/m2 during the summer solstice. During the winter solstice, the South-West side of the house receives the least amount of solar radiation, with levels below 0.39kWh/m2.
